If you prefer your Mangoes tangy, eat those Feijoas straight away !  If you prefer your Mangoes ripe, let the Feijoas sit on the bench for a few days to sweeten up further.

How to eat a feijoa

Feijoa skin is a little bitter. The best way to eat a Feijoa is to cut and scoop out the flesh.  It is sweeter in the centre and it gets more tangy and sour as you get closer to the skin.  Some people are happy to eat the skin.  My children tend to just bite straight into them, skin and all !

How to store feijoas

If you would like your feijoas to continue to ripen,  just leave them in a bowl on your kitchen bench.  They will slowly ripen up over a week.  If you wish to slow down the ripening, pop them in the fridge.  They will last several weeks in the fridge if stored while fresh.

Where to buy

This season we are making the step into some South Australian owned supermarkets .  For updates on fruit arriving in stores, please head to our menu button .  Information will be updated on our Seasonal updates page.

We will also be selling fruit from the Mylkappa Wines Cellar Door at Birdwood.  For opening days please refer to the Seasonal updates page.

Feijoa sizes

Feijoas come in different shapes and sizes. From thin and long, short and round, to oblong shapes.  Skin colour can vary from a pale green with hints of almost yellow to a very deep green.    The most important thing is that they are all tasty.  We don't believe in wastage of good quality fruit just because they are different sizes.

Trust us, they all taste great !
